RPC issues forged temporary permits to three-wheel drivers

A massive fraud of issuing forged temporary permits to three wheeler drivers who has no valid driving licences was detected following the arrest of a Reserved Police Constable (RPC) attached to the Western Province North Police Division.

Investigations directed by Western Province North DIG Asoka Wijeytilleke revealed that the RPC had issued several forged temporary permits to three wheeler drivers who had no valid driving licences for a sum of Rs. 250 for each permit.

After recording the statement of the suspect RPC, he will be produced before the Gampaha Magistrate and remanded until the completion of the investigations.

Following the remand of the suspect, the RPC, the Western Province North DIG Asoka Wijeytilleke interdicted the RPC pending the completion of the on going investigations.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Chandra Fernando has deployed a special squad to trace all police personnel who are assisting the drivers violating traffic laws and prosecute them irrespective of their positions.
