Steps taken to protect Duvili-Ella

Duvili-Ella waterfall that falls from a beautiful hillock at Kosmulla close to the Singharaja Forest in Hinidum Pattu is most popular among foreign and local tourists and environmentalists.

This waterfall situated at Kosmulla about 8 km away from Neluwa town. The place can be reached via Neluwa-Mawita-Kosmulla Road.

To protect the waterfall, the Central Environment Authority has launched a two year implementation project to educate people on the value of protecting the Duvili-Ella.

Under this programme a series of seminars was conducted by the Neluwa Environment Committee at Kosmulla Community Hall recently.

Meanwhile a development programme has already been initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Southern Provincial Council to develop the waterfall premises protecting the natural beauty.

Two ponds at the lower part of the waterfall were constructed and sanitary facilities were also provided to facilitate the tourists.

A circuit bungalow is being constructed for the benefit of the tourists.
