'Employment Market' held at Kuruwita

All vacancies in the various ministries and other institutions under the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council., would be filed within the next few months, said Chief Minister Mahipala Herath at Ratnapura recently.

He said so, addressing the 'Employment Market' held at the Central College, Kuruwita, sponsored and organised by the district institutions in collaboration with the Youth Affairs Ministry of the SPC. the object of the 'Employment Market' session was to find suitable employment opportunities for the unemployed youths in the Ratnapura district.

Over fifty private institutions participated in it, with nearly a thousand unemployed youths, both male and female 'thronging' the place, impatiently awaiting from the commencement of the session in expectation of some kind of an employment.

The Chief Minister reminded the gathering that already 4,000 graduates had been provided with permanent employment in the teaching and other managerial fields, with another 5,000 vacancies awaiting to be filled in other sectors of the Provincial Council shortly.

Deputy Director, National Youth Council Saman Bandara pointed out that the vacancies in the private sector would be available only for those with special training and 'proved - experience' and not to those with mere paper qualifications and certificates of the 'yester-year'.

Minister of Youth Affairs and Local Government Y.G. Padmasuri, PC Members Ranjith Bandara, Janaka Wakkumbura and District Manageress National Youth Council, Swarna Rupasinghe also participated.
