Policemen on drugs raid stoned

There was high drama in Wanathamulla on Monday night as Police clashed with a group of slum dwellers following the arrest of some heroin traffickers from the area.

Officers from the Dematagoda Police had marched the suspects and were bundling them into a Police jeep when they came under a hail of stones. The four suspects escaped in the melee.

Police reinforcements arrived later on the scene and dealt with the situation while also arresting the suspects.

Several policemen were injured in the stone throwing and the skirmishes that followed.
