Take a united stand to resolve national problem
President Mahinda Rajapakse said that we should take a united stand
in resolving the burning national problem without trying to seek petty
political gain by sticking to petty dogmas. The influence of Buddhism
has enabled him to work with dedication and patience in his effort to
bring peace to the country.
On the invitation of the Nippon Bauddha Madhyasthanadhipati Ven. Dr.
Udagama Sumangala Thera the Maitri Bauddha Madhyasthanadhipati of
California USA Ven. Dr. Ittepane Dhammaloka Nayake Thera presided over
the 'daham hamuwa'.
The new Cetiya at the Nippon Bauddha Madhyasthanaya was gifted by Ven.
Meegahatenne Chandrasiri Thera, Viharadhipati, Kotte Mahindaramaya.
The President said this when he addressed a 'daham hamuwa' after
unveiling the pinnacle of a newly built Cetiya at the Nippon Bauddha
Madhasthanaya at Samanalawatta, Kokkumbura in Meegahatenna on Monday.
The President further said that we should dedicate ourselves to
foster peace in a manner which would protect and safeguard the rights of
all communities in Sri Lanka which lay claim to a cultural and spiritual
heritage of over 2005 years.
The president who requested all Sri Lankans to assist him in his
efforts to bring peace without resorting to various dogmas for personal
gain said he would always welcome fair criticism if there were any
shortcomings or pitfalls in his actions.
JHU parliament traian Ven. Athuraliye Ratana Thera, Industrial
Development Minister Kumara Welgama and Foreign Employment Promotion
Minister and Posts and Telecommunications Deputy Minister Rohitha
Abeygunawardena were also present. |
