Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills wins Asia Pacific Quality Award
Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills, an associate of the Hayleys Group
specialising in knitted fabrics, has been awarded the International Asia
Pacific Quality Award (IAPQA) for 'World Class Organisation 2005'
(Distinction) in the Big Manufacturing Organisation category.
The award was presented by the Asia Pacific Quality Organisation (APQO)
at the 11th International Conference in Hanoi Vietnam recently.
An international panel of judges adjudicates this award based on
criteria similar to that of the United States' Malcolm Baldrige Award,
together with the recommendations of the respective National Quality
Award Organisations.
Seven elements were considered for the award, including Leadership;
Strategic Planning; Customer and Market Focus; Measurement, Analysis and
Knowledge Management; Human Resource Focus; Process Management and
Business Results.
Commenting on the receipt of this award, Hayleys MGT Director/General
Manager Bandula Weerasinghe said: "This endorsement at a very discerning
level internationally underlines the success of our continuous
improvement efforts. We are greatly encouraged by this award."
Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills is a key supplier of high quality knitted
fabric to the Sri Lankan apparel industry and to direct export markets.
Over 10 per cent of its production is exported directly.
The company has received accreditation from world renowned retailers
such as Marks & Spencer, Next, Tesco, British Home Stores (BHS),
Mothercare, Sainsbury, Woolworth and Adams. An ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
certified company, Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills Ltd., has won numerous
awards and commendations in the past for its commitment to Total
Quality, such as the Sri Lankan National Quality Award 2003 and the
National Industrial Safety Award 2004, in the large Manufacturing
Industry category, to name a few. |
