Inzamam equals century record, England struggle

FAISALABAD, Pakistan, Monday (Reuters) Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq scored a record equalling 23rd century as Pakistan made 462 before reducing England to 113 for three at close of play on the second day of the second test on Monday.

Ian Bell (36) and Kevin Pietersen (four) were batting together for England when bad light stopped play.

The England innings was suspended for nine minutes when a gas cylinder exploded in front of a packed stand. A policeman standing on the edge of the ground suffered minor injuries.

"It was purely accidental. The explosion occurred because a carbonated gas cylinder exploded as it could not take the pressure," senior police official Amin Watoo told Reuters.

Pakistan paceman Rana Naved bowled Andrew Strauss (12) and captain Michael Vaughan (two) in successive overs to leave England struggling on 39 for two.

Mohammad Sami struck just before close when he got opener Marcus Trescothick to inside edge to wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal on 48.
