Parliament prorogued : President Rajapakse to declare open new
session on November 25
Parliament was prorogued at midnight yesterday . President Mahinda
Rajapakse acting in terms of the powers vested in him made the
prorogation order.
The new Parliamentary session will be declared opened by President
Rajapakse on November 25. The decision to prorogue Parliament was taken
at a party leaders meeting yesterday chaired by the President.The
Emergency debate will be taken up from 12.30 pm, on this day(25th).
According to the leader of the House former Minister Nimal Siripala
De Silva the decision to prorogue Parliament was taken, among other
things to table a new appropriation Bill with the object of presenting a
new budget before December 31st.
Earlier, the regular sittings of the House was fixed for today. |
