Presidential election results

Results of the Presidential Election 2005 will be released to all media from the Office of the Commissioner of Elections with the assistance of the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC).

Immediately after the official results sheet of each polling division, postal votes of each district and the final all island result are received and certified by the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake, they will be electronically released to television channels and internet and telecom service providers who have made arrangements with the Elections Commissioner's office. Other media will be provided with printouts of the results sheets.

The UCSC and its predecessors have assisted the Department of Elections in processing and releasing results of all national elections since 1982.

This has resulted in the Department of Elections making the results available to all media without delay. This year, 10 television channels, three websites and several telecommunication providers will make use of this facility.
