SLRC Chairman sues Sunday newspaper

CHAIRMAN of the SLRC M.M. Zuhair, President's Counsel has through his Attorneys filed a damages claim in a sum of Rs. 25 million from the publishers and Editor of The Sunday Times for publishing a totally false news item relating to the hiring of a vehicle for the Chairman of the SLRC.

In a statement issued yesterday (Sunday 13/11) Mr. Zuhair states that the 'Odds and Ends' column of The Sunday Times has been regularly publishing false and other grossly misleading snippets relating to the SLRC, which had never been taken seriously but this item relating to the hiring of a vehicle and the matters referred to therein are false and grossly defamatory.

Action has been taken to sue for damages from The Sunday Times, he said.
