Lack of publicity for other candidates : Hettigoda complains to Polls Chief

Presidential candidate Victor Hettigoda de Silva Wijedasa of the Eksath Lanka Pudujana Party (ELJPP) said that he has complained to the Commissioner of Elections that only two candidates are being given coverage with their photographs while eleven others have been ignored by the media.

Addressing a media conference at the Head office of 'Siddalepa' business enterprise he said that right now all 13 are candidates eyeing for the Presidency and they should be treated equally.

But this has not happened I and I have drawn the attention of the Commissioner of Elections to this, he said.

He also claimed that he would get 62 per cent and emerge victorious. This is because I have put my trust in the people in fact 80 per cent of them are fed up with the present set-up and they do not like both leaders who have failed to deliver good while in power. "From that 80 per cent, I am confident I will get 62 per cent".

Hettigoda said that he would include all political leaders in his Cabinet which would be limited to 30 members.

Responding to a question from the media he said he would make changes to the Constitution. He also said plans are on foot to make his visit to the North and added that he would go with fresh ideas to meet the LTTE. "I will invite them to join the Government I form and work as one people. That is the only way to bring about peace", he said.
