Emergency extended with 61 votes

The extension of the Emergency for a further one month was passed in Parliament yesterday by a majority of 61 votes. Eighty Members from the UPFA, UNP, JHU and the EPDP voted for the Emergency and 19 voted against.

They comprised the TNA, UNP's Mano Ganeshan and T. Maheswaran and UPF's P. Radhakrishnan. The SLMC abstained from voting while CWC Members were not present in the Chamber at the time of voting.
