Probe into rape incident at BIA
by Kumarasiri Prasad
Police and Bandaranaike International Airport authorities are probing
the alleged rape of a 23-year-old Sri Lankan woman at the airport. Five
suspects have been detained in this connection.
The woman has complained to the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign
Employment that she was gang raped by five airport workers from the
baggage handling and security service on October 10, while she was
waiting overnight for a flight to Kuwait. She had taken the flight after
the ordeal, but her employer had sent her back to Sri lanka after she
developed medical complications.
She has been sent to the Negombo Base Hospital for a medical
examination. |
