Principals' slaying:

Mangala condoles

Ports and Civil Aviation Minister and Deputy Minister of Education Mangala Samaraweera in a media release yesterday conveyed his condolances to the members of the families of the two School Principals of Jaffna assassinated by LTTE gunmen and registered his strongest protest against these brutal crimes and condemned the killing of law-abiding citizens of the North and East.

Samaraweera in his media release stressed the imperative of the Northern and Eastern citizens to array themselves against such heinous crimes of the LTTE and urged the international community and specially the Norwegian facilitators to bring pressure upon the LTTE to stop forthwith the massacre of civilians.

Unidentified LTTE gunmen gunned down Jaffna Central College Principal Kanapathy Rajadurai and Kopai Christian College Principal Nadarajah Sivakdadcham last Wednesday for criticising LTTE child conscription and for improving respective college buildings with Government financial allocations in defiance of LTTE orders.

In the course of past two weeks LTTE killed 17 Tamil civilians in Jaffna alone.
