Budget presentation on November 8

The Government will present Budget 2006 in Parliament on November 8.

Officially announcing the 2006 budget dates at the Cabinet press briefing yesterday, Government Spokesman and Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said the budget will be presented in Parliament on November 8 at 2.00pm.

The budget debate has been fixed from November 22 to 29 after a brief interval from the Presidential Election on November 17.

The vote on the second reading of the budget will be taken on November 29 at 6.00 p.m.The committee stage debate will be held from November 30 to December 17 and the final vote on the budget will be taken on December 17.

The Government Spokesman said that he will be notifying the budget dates to Parliament on October 18.
