Road renamed after late journalist Dharmasiri Gamage

THE Senpathi Mawatha of Maligawatta Housing Scheme, Colombo 10 will be renamed Dharmasiri Gamage Mawatha at a ceremony under the patronage of Colombo Mayor Prasanna Gunawardena on Monday at 4.00 p.m. to mark the first death anniversary of journalist Dharmasiri Gamage.

Gamage was a resident of the Maligawatta National Housing Scheme for a very long period.

The renaming of the road follows a suggestion to the Colombo Municipal Council by MMC T. M. Sangadasa, Kala Lanka Arts Foundation President to felicitate Gamage whose invaluable contribution to arts as a journalist, writer, lyricist, cinema director, an environmentalist and as a noble human being was unparalleled.

The renaming of the road has been endorsed by National Housing Authority Chairman Parakrama Karunaratne.

Professor Sunil Ariyaratne will deliver the commemorative oration. Municipal Councillors, artistes and dignitaries are expected to participate.
