CIM produces professional marketers with knowledge and skills that
can be acquired by completing the programme. The CIM programme has three
stages which helps employers when recruiting to their organisations.
"Once this post-graduate diploma is completed, the student is ready
to take up any senior management position in any organisation not only
in Sri Lanka but also overseas," Rajanathan said.
At present there are more than 3440 student members in the country
and CIM Sri Lanka Region is always looking to increase the pass rate in
the country, he said.
CIM - Sri Lanka works with three stakeholders namely students,
members and business community to increase the local pass rate.
To fulfil this objective, it has appointed UK accredited tuition
centres in the country. The tutors have to be chartered marketers. These
centres will be quarterly monitored to maintain its standards.
CIM-Sri Lanka also does a lot of activities to help students by
conducting pre-examination sessions with the assistance of qualified
tutors prior to the country just before the examinations.
Rajanathan said that they encourage every student to pass their
examinations which are more practical based.
This year they were able to produce the world prize at the last
examination. CIM - Sri Lanka has all the resources to help students get
through their examinations.
It has a well-equipped library facility with students' study areas at
the regional office in Colombo.
'Today the corporate world is dynamic and web savvy individuals can
enhance their knowledge with the availability of resources. CIM-Sri
Lanka is working with two financial organisations, Hatton National Bank
and The Finance to provide loans for students.
It is also negotiating with CIM-International to pay in local
currency, he said.
The world has shrunk into a global village, every business person has
to be professionally qualified to face challenges especially in
marketing.
In the past marketing was known as sales or selling goods and
services to the people but now Chartered Marketers are the key players
in the business that drives business to success. It has also provided
inputs to the business world by dominating in Boardrooms of the
corporate sector with the expanding of the business sector, he said.
Professional marketers could also drive business by increasing
markets, venturing into other markets and exploring export markets.
Therefore their contribution is tremendous for the business, he said.
CIM also holds workshops, training programmes and seminars for full
members to update their knowledge.
CIM-International also provides regular knowledge updates via on-line
and by way of hardcopies to enhance knowledge.
CIM-Sri Lanka has 755 full members, 151 Chartered Marketers (of the

series programmes periodically to enhance members' knowledge.

the future.
The local branch has six interest groups namely apparel, tea,

of these interest groups is to help and assist these sectors in the
country while supporting its members.
