'Doctors for Development' to support PM
by Rohan Mathes reporting from Kandy
The 'Alliance of Doctors for National Development' called on Prime
Minister Mahinda Rajapakse last Sunday at Central province Governor
Monti Gopallawa's official residence in Kandy to pledge their support
for him at the forthcoming Presidential Election.
The Premier had a fruitful and cordial discussion with the doctors
who were confident of his victory. They pledged to participate in the
election campaign and address the people, requesting their support.
Alliance Coordinator Dr S. Kodikara said that their alliance has
identified Rajapakse as a true leader who moved with the times and the
people. He has accepted their suggestion of formulating a national
policy on health, when he is appointed president.
They will be holding mobile clinics islandwide, specially in the
estate sector where there are less facilities and the politicians are
less likely to reach.
The Prime Minister said he was willing and prepared to take the
advice of the professionals in diverse spheres, for the benefit of the
country. |
