LTTEer dies in attack on office

AN LTTE cadre named Arulnesan was killed when the LTTE's political office at Kalawanchikudy in the East came under attack at 6.50 am yesterday.

According to defence sources, two unidentified men came in a motorcycle sped away after hurling grenades and firing with automatic weapons into the LTTE's Kalawanchikudy political office. Arulnesan was killed in the attack.

The SLMM officials visited the scene and the Police in Batticaloa have launched the investigation into the attack sources said.

Meanwhile, the guard room near the Assistant Superintendent of Police in Kalmunai was attacked on Saturday at 9.15 p.m. Reserve Police Constable Gamini Premaratne who was on duty at the time of the attack was severely injured and airlifted to Colombo immediately sources.

The guard room was attacked from a tsunami affected school which is situated closer to the Kalmunai ASP's office sources said.
