National Bhikku Front to support PM

VEN. DR. DAMBARA Amila Thera the President of the National Bhikku Front (Jathika Bhikshu Peramuna) said in Kandy on Saturday that the Bhikku Peramuna had decided to extend their fullest support to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse at the forthcoming Presidential election and requested the Maha Sangha to go on a house to house campaign to ensure the victory of national leader Rajapakse.

He made that revelation at a well attended meeting of National Bhikku Front held at the postal complex auditorium in Kandy, on 'the way the nation should take'. He presided over the meeting.

Ven. Dr. Dambara Amila Thera added that unlike UNP candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse could be introduced as a national leader who had a very good knowledge and understanding on national thinking who would not come foward to sell out the country.

What the Maha Sangha and general public had to do, at this juncture was to exhibit the strength of democracy.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse is a person with flexibility who can lead the country in the right direction. For that he had all the courage and determination. He was a well known progressive leader.

UNP leader and Presidential Candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe was a politician who was not conversant with the national culture, way of living and values. He was a politician who had betrayed the country by arriving at an agreement with the LTTE with the connivance of some foreign and local antinational groups.

In comparison Mahinda Rajapakse had all the qualities and qualifications to be a national leader with a national background. He was a farsighted leader too he added.

Ven. Dr. Amila Thera requested the Maha Sangha to visit from village to village carrying that message to the people. It would be a great responsibility by the nation. Ranil Wickremesinghe was responsible for degrading the dignity of the nation by signing an agreement with Prabhakaran.

It was the duty of the Maha Sangha to explain the situation to the people and ensure the victory of Mahinda Rajapakse who was capable of becoming the leader of the nation and get the country protected.
