Poll cards given for counting

WESTERN Province South DIG K.P.P. Pathirana who directed investigations into how 8,000 ballot papers for the next Presidential Election came to a house in Nugegoda told the "Daily News" yesterday that those ballot papers had been given to one Indra of Nugegoda by the Elections Department to count them and return to the Department.

'We have recorded a statement from Indra of Nugegoda in connection with the ballot papers," DIG Pathirana said.

Assistant Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya had confirmed that the ballot papers had been given to a residence in Nugegoda, DIG Pathirana said.
