SLFP Convention tomorrow

THE Sri Lanka Freedom Party will hold its 54th Annual Convention at the Race Course, Colombo, tomorrow.

This year's convention is especially significant in the light of the Presidential Elections which is just two months away.

SLFP organisers and members from all parts of the country will participate in the convention presided by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

Participants will come in procession from Campbell Park, passing Punchi Borella, Maradana, Deans Road, Independence Square, Foundation Institute, Reid Mawatha to the Race Course.

Apart from Party branches, members of the clergy, trade unions, Samurdhi organisations and youth organisations will also participate.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse will address a public rally at the Pumbe Sports Grounds, Baddegama this afternoon after commissioning a series of development projects.
