Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda new Navy Commander

Navy Commander Vice Admiral Daya Sandagiri, who is also the Chief of Defence Staff relinquishes his duties as Commander of the Navy effective from today but continues his appointment as Chief of Defence Staff, the Defence Ministry said.

He will be elevated to the rank of Admiral.

Rear Admiral Wasantha Kumar Jayadeva Karannagoda, Coordinator of Defence Services and the Police for Trincomalee has been appointed Navy Commander from today. He will be elevated to the rank of Vice Admiral. A product of Ananda College, Colombo, he joined the Sri Lanka Navy 34 years ago.

He served in the North and East as Commanding Officer for six years before he took up the appointment in Trincomalee. During his career, he has followed Staff Courses in UK, Security Studies Executive Course in USA , Naval National Defence Course in Pakistan and the Strategic Studies Executive Course in the USA. He has graduated obtaining the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science (MSc).
