Training course for Lankan journalists in Denmark

A training course for fifteen Sri Lankan journalists in Copenhagen,
Denmark for five weeks from February 23 to March it has been offered by
the Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC) funded by the Danish government.
The course will be implemented by the Danish Media Development Agency
in cooperation with professional journalists and managers from the
Danish Broadcasting Corporation and other media houses in Denmark.
The training will focus on the role of media and individual
journalists in the democratic process including conflict reporting.
In addition to the presentation of the basics of public service media
and freedom of the press, the participants will receive practical hands
on production training in the use of modern digital equipment and
internet publication.
The course will target practising journalists/editors with the
following qualifications. (a) Preferably a minimum of two years of
employment as a journalist or journalism trainer, (b) Sufficient
knowledge of English to follow training and to communicate in spoken
English, (d) Basic knowledge of computer technology at user level (Word,
Outlook, Windows), (e) Documented possibility to implement acquired
skills after return to Sri Lanka. Promotion of gender equality and a
balanced participation of men and women at the course is a priority.
Thus female journalists are particularly encouraged to apply.
All costs involved in attending the course including travel to and
from Denmark will be paid by the Danida Fellowship Centre and
participants will receive a daily subsistence allowance. |
