Fifteen undergrads recruited to BOI

Fifteen undergraduates were recruited to the Board of Investment (BoI) under the government policy of recruiting 42,000 graduates to the permanent cadre last week. They received their appointment letters from the newly appointed Industrial and Investment Promotion Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama at a function held at the auditorium of the Industrial Ministry.

This was the first official act of Minister Amunugama since assuming duties as the new Industrial and Investment Promotion Minister in addition to his Finance Minister portfolio.

Addressing the gathering Minister Amunugama said: " One of the main promises given by the government was to recruit 42,000 graduates to the permanent cadre in the government sector and it was a original concept by the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

As a government civil servant for so many years, I have come to know that out of our 20 million population, one million are government servants. Speaking further he also noted that the President has instructed for a fully re-infrastructure of the BoI and should make it an essential and dedicated institution for the country. "Therefore, the service of these newly recruited graduates will assist to achieve this target easily", he said.
