3M Lanka introduces heat absorption and sunlight protection
innovations
3M Lanka (Pvt) Ltd recently introduced a new energy saving feature to
its product range of Scotchshield (Shatterproof) ultra safety and
security window films.
These tough, multipurpose products are the first of their kind geared
to protect buildings from all-year-round harsh sunlight environments.
They enhance an already impressive array of existing attributes such
as: additional safety from workplace accidents, increased security
against burglary and vandalism, and improved attractiveness for the
front face of homes and buildings.
Developed by the Consumer Safety and Light Management Department of
3M, the Scotchshield (Shatterproof) ultra safety and security window
films product range has been engineered to reduce glare and eye fatigue,
while also minimising heat absorption by as much as 80%.
These products - available in clear and tinted versions - also allow
users to significantly cut down on the cost of air-conditioning of
buildings.
Other costs such as curtaining and supplying window blinds and higher
interior lighting could also be avoided when using these products.
Since it is also widely accepted that windows cause a significant
number of injuries during any major building accident, 3M has created
this product to counteract the harm from workplace accidents such as
explosions. This product range is the result of research carried out by
3M specifically addressing this issue.
3M's tough and durable Scotchshield (Shatterproof) ultra safety and
security window film which consists of multiple, micro-thin polyester
layers work to hold shattered window glasing together. This reduces the
number of fragments and the frequency of the shattering that can cause
harm. |
