Jaycees, HSBC host the Outstanding Young Persons Programme
Ten outstanding young people will receive the TOYP award for 2005 at
the Trans Asia Hotel on Sunday October 9.
The winners will be recognised for their exemplary achievements in
their respective fields and could go even on to win the International
TOYP Award. This year's competition is being sponsored by HSBC and will
be titled the 'HSBC TOYP Awards'.
Deputy chief executive officer of HSBC Sarath Piyaratana said, "we
are proud to be given the opportunity to sponsor The Outstanding Young
Person of the Year award for three years. This is an event that empowers
the future leaders of our country - young individuals with a vision, a
purpose, a determination and commitment to move beyond mediocrity and
aspire to new standards; a passion to act as catalysts for change to
make a positive difference in their world.
We are glad to be able to recognise such worthy individuals and hope
that their exemplary achievements will inspire and encourage other young
citizens of Sri Lanka. HSBC is also honoured to be associated with the
Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka in this event".
The Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) award is presented worldwide
through the Junior Chamber International national chapters. In Sri
Lanka, 'The Outstanding Young Persons' programme has become one of the

judges, comprising five prominent personalities in Sri Lanka and the
judging will take place in the presence of auditors appointed for this
purpose.
The winners of this year's programme will be recognised at an awards

it is hoped that the honourees will continue to grow in their ability to
contribute to the country and the world, whilst serving as a source of
inspiration to future generations of youth.
