Sanasa Bank customers to link with Lanka Bell's CDMA

The Sanasa Development Bank (SDB) celebrates its eighth anniversary this year by offering its 800,000 customer base a special loan facility through its 17 islandwide branches, to get connected to Lanka Bell's CDMA telecom network.

Lanka Bell’s Managing Director Suren Goonawardena and Sanasa Development Bank’s General Manager T A. Gajaba exchange documents. Also in the picture are Lanka Bell’s Director Prasad Samarasinghe, General Manager Sales & Marketing / Customer Care Rishad Mansoor and SDB’s Deputy General Manager N.J.B Mamaduma.

The documents were signed by Lanka Bell's Managing Director Suren Goonawardene and Sanansa Development Bank's General Manager T A. Gajaba. Present on the occasion were also Director Lanka Bell Prasad Samarasinghe, General Manager Sales & Marketing / Customer Care of Lanka Bell Rishad Mansoor and SDB's Deputy General Manager N.J.B Mamaduwa.

Lanka Bell, the first private fixed telecom operator to launch CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology in Sri Lanka today covers nearly 70% of the country's geographical area spanning 19 districts with several thousand connections in operation.

Sanansa Development Bank's General Manager T A. Gajaba said that the Bank was happy to join Lanka Bell's CDMA network given the dynamism and speed with which the network had spread over Sri Lanka since its launch in May this year.

"Most of our 800,000 customer base is essentially from areas beyond the main towns and has lacked access to basic telephony for years. This programme with Lanka Bell will dramatically change their lives and bring them to Sri Lanka's mainstream communications with CDMA's modern fixed wireless telephony", he added.

Lanka Bell's Managing Director Suren Goonawardena said that rural connectivity was the key platform on which Lanka Bell launched its CDMA telephony, adding that the rural public's consequent response has surpassed all predictions. "The opportunities are literally endless with CDMA 2000-1X technology. As a fully Sri Lankan owned telecommunications operator, we are proud and happy to be of service to the nation", he added.
