Concert by Khemadasa to honour Kandy medical staff
 

A special Premasiri Khemadasa musical concert has been organised by Kidney Protection Society, Kandy to recognize the invaluable service rendered by medical team headed by Consultant Surgeon Dr. P. K. Harischandra by successfully performing a Kidney transplanting surgery on music maestro Premasiri Khemadasa, to be conducted on August 28, at Dharmaraja College Auditorium Kandy.

This has been organised to pay tribute, to Surgeons Doctors, Nursing staff and Employees who participated in performing the surgery on Premasiri Khemadasa at the Kidney unit of General Hospital Kandy. This concert titled Khemadasa in Concert is to be held free of charge.

Music groups and artistes are participating in this concert free. Artistes inclusive of Laxman, Joseph de Seram, Amarasiri Peiris, Latha Walpola, T. M. Jayaratne, Kamal Addaraarachchi and Indika Upamali are billed to sing at this concert.

Master Premasiri Khemadasa told the "Daily News" at the General Hospital Kandy that surgeons and other doctors, nurses and all others attached to Kidney Unit of Kandy General Hospital took untiring efforts to make him survive. Those who undergo kidney transplanting surgery have to visit the hospital for 3 months regularly after the surgery. Most of them come from distant places and they have to face with the problem of non-availability of waiting facilities in Kandy. His only objective was to put up a waiting room for those patients.

Central Provincial Governor Monti Gopallawa has set aside a piece of land for that purpose. He (Khemadasa) has credited funds to Bank of Ceylon Account No. 132858 from cash he has won with awards he has won, as initial payment of contribution towards this building fund.

Funds also will be made available by Chairman Holcim Cement Company, CTC Eagle Co, Maharaja Organisation, Chairman SLBC Hudson Samarasinghe and IDM Chairman Dr. Bandu Ranasinge' Khemadasa added.

Student of Khemadasa Foundation Manasawila Opera, Sonduru Warnadasi Opera, Buddhist Cantata of Khemadasa will also be presented at this concert. It is also planned to open a special website by Dr. Bandu Ranasinghe, Chairman IDM.
