Aroos, Chairman of selection committee women's cricket

In view of the forthcoming English tour, Asia Cup in Pakistan and the MCC Tour of Sri Lanka in February 2006, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs has approved A.R.M. Aroos (Chairman), Gulam Razik, Stanley de Alwis and M. Devaraja as the national selectors for women's cricket up to 2006.

S.K. Ravindran Secretary of WCASL was appointed Secretary to the Selection Committee without voting rights.

Their first task will be to pick a pool of thirty players in the upcoming Singer premier tournament 2005 sponsored by Singer and played in Moratuwa, Colombo, Kandy and Dambulla.

Later they will watch the poolists at two trial matches before the final 16 are named.

This annual tournament is played in 'A' Division and 'B' Division. The winner of 'B' Division gets promoted to 'A' for the next year's play.
