Land transaction issue: Notice issued on respondent

Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Sarath C. Karunaratne issued notice on John Paul Vajira Priyantha Irugalbandara of Colombo 3 to appear before Court on August 4 on an application by a Pettah businessman in connection with a land transaction issue.

The Judge also directed the Controller of Immigration and Emigration not to allow Irugalbandara to leave the country without the Court's prior permission.

Ajith Pathirana who appeared with Deemani Beddewela for the Pettah businessman moving for notice, submitted to Court that Irugalbandara had collected Rs. 6 million from his client promising him one acre of land in Weerawila to set up a petroleum dealer shop. But he had not complied with the promise for the last several months.

A copy of the Court order will be forwarded to the Immigration and Emigration Officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
