Dutch Railway Company helps tsunami victims

The Dutch Railway Company recently donated Rs.120,000 each for the
Sri Lanka Railway Department employees who were affected following the
tsunami
The financial assistance was provided to Railway Department employees
to rebuild their houses which were affected due to the tsunami.
This project was coordinated by the Dutch Private Initiatives in Sri
Lanka (TFDISL).
The Netherlands Alumni Association of Lanka (NAAL) President S.P.C.
Kumarasinghe said that the Dutch Railway Company has also decided to
renovate the damaged railway concrete sleeper project and to build 150
houses for the employees of the Sri Lankan Railway Department who were
affected due to the tsunami tragedy in last December 26.
The wife of the engine driver of the tsunami train disaster at
Telwatte also received a donation from, the NAAL President Rinus Vader
said.
Dr. John Dietz, Sumana Liyanage, S. B. Niyangoda, Ms. Tharanga Gamage,
Railway General Manager Priyal de Silva and Mounasinghe also
participated at the ceremony. |
