ASPI tops 2000 mark for first time:

Dialog helps CSE to create history

AS predicted, Dialog Telekom created history yesterday on its debut at the Colombo Stock Market helping the All Share Price Index to exceed 2000 the mark for the first time in its history. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) gained 79.6 points to close at 2,026.3 points recording its highest ever point. The previous record was 1,958.7 reached on July 26, 2005.

Foreign exchange rate appreciates by 5 per cent

"THE foreign exchange rate has appreciated by 5 percent in the first half of this year and it is expected to remain stable thereafter in the country" said Central Bank's, Economic Research Division, Deputy Director Dr. P.N. Weerasinghe.
