More clubs for Singer Challenge Trophy

The Annual Premier Tournament conducted by the Women's Cricket Association of Sri Lanka and sponsored by Singer will have more clubs this season including one from Jaffna.

All new comers will play in the B' Division scheduled from the first week of August. The winners will receive the Singer Challenge trophy (now held by Palinka SC) and cash prizes. The winners in the B' Group will be promoted to A' Group.

The national selectors will be on hand to pick the 30-strong pool from which the top 16 will make up the national team to take on the English national side in November in Sri Lanka. They will also play the second leg of the Asia Cup in Pakistan.

This year some of the matches in the premier tournament will be played at Kandy and Dambulla.

In the meantime, the MCC team has informed Gwen Herath, President WCASL that they will be in Sri Lanka next February to play against SL.
