Vehicle hijacked at Airport junction

Two persons hijacked a sales delivery van and got away with Rs 150,000 in cash and pre-paid cellular cards worth Rs 50,000. The vehicle was waylaid at the Airport Junction on the Ja-Ela- Negombo Road.

Two youth had threatened the persons in the van travelling from Ja-Ela to Negombo with knives and had forcefully entered the vehicle at the Airport Junction.

Thereafter, they had commandeered the van along with its inmates up to Minuwangoda where they decamped with the cash and cell cards, leaving the van.

Seeduwa Police OIC IP Saman Sigera said it was revealed that the two unidentified persons have lain in wait for the vehicle near a boutique in the vicinity of the airport junction.
