Trishaw robbing effort thwarted

Deraniyagala police in Kegalle district, has launched a special police team to nab three highwaymen who hired a trishaw at Dehiowita trishaw-stand late in the night recently on the pretext of a hire.

On their way at a place known as Warakatenna in Deraniyagala area, the three men who hired the trishaw assaulted the trishaw driver and tied him to a tree and was on the verge of escaping with the robbed trishaw.

The police on information, promptly made road blocks and succeeded in tracing the trishaw abandoned and the robbers have disappeared into the jungle.

A special police team is after the suspects to apprehend them, according to information from police sources in Deraniyagala.
