SLEA calls for partnership

SRI LANKA Economic Association (SLEA) calls for partnership of the
private and public sectors to meet today's challenges and utilise the
opportunities in the country in performing of their respective roles.

Both the public and private sectors individually have failed to
generate adequate growth during the last three decades and now it is
time for them to get together and perform towards a sustainable
development.
President SLEA Prof. A.V.D.s Indraratna said addressing a press
conference at Organisation of Professionals Association (OPA) in Colombo
on Wednesday. He said that the Annual Session 2005 of the SLEA will be
focused on the theme:
"Public and Private Sector Partnership for Accelerated Growth" and
the main objective of the event is to examine and analyse how the two
sectors could respectively meet the challenges.
The chief guest at the event will be the Director, Rajiv Ghandhi
Institute for Contemporary Studies, in New Delhi while eminent speakers
such as Prof B. Hewavitharana, Dr. Anura Ekanayake, Franklyn Amarasinghe
would speak on Changing Roles of the Public and Private Sectors,
Economic Infrastructure and Development, Reshaping Agriculture for the
Challenges ahead, and SMEs and Micro Finance at the four technical
sessions.
The main objective of the SLEA is to provide a forum for Sri Lankan
economists both local and foreign to exchange views on social and
economic issues. |
