New appointment
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the appointment of Professor
Ishaq, as an Honorary Consultant to the Ministry of Environment and
Natural Resources. Dr. Ishaq has been a professor of Civil and
Environmental Engineering at the Michigan State University, in East
Lansing, USA and prestigious King Fahd University of Petroleum and
Minerals, in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, for the past 35 years.
Previously Professor Ishaq had served government of Sri Lanka, with
the Survey and Irrigation Department. He had also served as an Honorary
Consultant to the Ministry of Ports and Shipping. He has also served in
the international arena as a consultant to the Ford Foundation, the
United Nations and to numerous agencies in Saudi Arabia and the Middle
East.
In Saudi Arabia, Professor Isahaq has been the principal investigator
of several funded research projects related to the enhancement of water
supply in the Kingdom in particular and the Middle East in general. This
includes the award winning project entitled, "Waste-water Re-charge to
enhance water supply in Saudi Arabia".
Professor Ishaq is expected to lend his expertise to the Ministry of
Environment and Natural Resources, in the areas of automation of data
acquisition, an early warning system for disaster prevention, and
groundwater contamination. |
