UK City Mayor here to help develop Beruwala electorate

The Beruwala PS Chairman Kushman de Silva launched a 10 year
development program to reconstruct and rehabilitate the Beruwala
electorate devastated by the tsunami tidal waves.
Accordingly the Mayor of the City of Reddin in England Paul Stroentop
and his Advisor Paulsturki arrived here on Kushman de Silva's invitation
and held discussions on the rehabilitation program with the government
officers and the businessmen of the area at the Hotel Mutumuni, Beruwala.
When the Mayor and his Advisor arrived Beruwala they were welcomed by
Beruwala PS Chairman Kushman de Silva and the Kaluwamodera-Moragalla
Lions Club President Lion Muthumuni Jayantha de Silva.
The Mayor Paul Stroentop said that they were very saddened to hear
the plight of tsunami victims in Sri Lanka and arrived here to be
acquaint with the problems first-hand and then to render maximum
services for the rehabilitation process, envisaged in his 10 year plan.
PS Chairman Kushman de Silva highlighted the needs and objectives of
the development plan and Beruwala Divisional Secretary K.P. Bernard
Wasantha de Silva emphasised the urgency of a Fire Brigade for Beruwala
at the discussion.
President, Bentota-Beruwala Hoteliers Association and the General
Manager Club Palm Garden Hotel, Beruwala insisted on the establishment
of the best Tourist City in Beruwala.
Ven. Waskaduwe Ratanasiri Thera, Chief Incumbent of Suriya Bandara
Rajamanthidarama Temple stressed the need of a vocational training
centre for school leavers.
Beruwala Police OIC Abeyratne Dissanayake said installing of a
tsunami warning system and an ambulance is an urgent need of the area. |
