CEB joins ANCL Aloka Pooja

THE Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will join the Associated
Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) in its 43rd Aloka Pooja (Offering of
Light) at Mihintale from June 21 to 23 to mark Poson Festival.
The ANCL will organise this major event in collaboration with the
Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).
Several other programs will also be held parallel to the Aloka Pooja.
An oratorical competition for schoolchildren in the North Central
Province and a donation of clothing worn to observe sil for 250 Dhamma
schoolchildren will be among the other programs to take place parallel
to the Aloka Pooja.
The speech competition will be held on June 11 in two categories,
Senior and Junior. The Buddhist Association of the ANCL will award the
Wijewardena Commemoration Trophy and a prize of Rs.10,000 to the winner
of the senior category.
The winner of the junior category will receive an award from
Budusarana and a cash prize of Rs.10,000. Second and third winners of
each category will receive cash prizes of Rs.7,500 and Rs.5,000 each.
Fourth to tenth winners will receive valuable book parcels from
Dayawansa Jayakody and Company Limited. The National Savings Bank (NSB)
will sponsor this competition.
The Public Trustee will sponsor clothing donation. |
