PC House to sponsor Isipatana rugby
One of Sri Lanka's leading Information Technology Companies - PC
House (pvt) Ltd. has come forward to sponsor the Isipatana College rugby
team this year.
The sponsorship agreement was signed by the chairman of PC House S.
H. M. Rishan and the Chairman of Isipatana Rugby Committee Commander H.
K. Sisira last week at the auditorium of PC House, Kollupitiya.
Speaking at the press briefing that followed Rishad said that the
sponsorship is the beginning of a fruitful relationship between PC House
and Isipatana. The sponsorship would help to enhance the team's
performance, provide nutrition, modern training methods, medical
expenses and Gymnasium facilities with the aim of making it the best
schools rugby team.
The chairman of Isipatana rugby commander H. K. Sisira thanked PC
House for coming forward to sponsor Isipatana rugby. The school has a
proud rugby history and this year's team led by Nalin Liyanage is sure
to give a superb display to recapture their past glory.
He said that already 45 Isipatanians have represented the Sri Lanka
team with the 1987 national team to Wales led by Hisham Abdeen
comprising no less than 10 Isipatanians. He said that they will give all
the support and encouragement to this year's team so that they will
emerge as the best schools team and more players will go onto don the
Sri Lanka Jersey bringing honour and fame to the school.
Isipatana's principal Punyadasa Kuruppu said that Isipatana was
renowned for its rugby just as Sri Lanka is famous for its tea and the
sponsorship by PC House would encourage the Isipatana ruggerites to give
of their best and regain their lost prestige.
The co-ordinator of Isipatana rugby Ivor Keerthipala said that PC
House has come forward to sponsor Isipatana rugby although it was
demoted to the 'B' Division this year as the company knew that it was a
school which played quality rugby over the years although they had a
poor season last year.
It reminded him of the famous saying 'class is permanent and form is
temporary. With a dedicated coach like Hisham Abdeen to guide them and
with the backing of the rugby committee it won't be long before
Isipatana regained its status of kings of schools rugby and provided the
national team with many more players," he said in conclusion.
