Adventure training for youth
by Ramani Kangaraarachchi
The pace setter of eco adventure tourism in Sri Lanka, Wild Holidays
(Pvt) Ltd will introduce adventure training programs with their foreign
and locally trained instructors headed by a Malaysian expert.
The first program known as "Survivor courses due to commence on May
21 at Thotupala in Piliyandala.
The Managing Director of the company and prime mover of the concept,
Major Vijith Welikala said that these programs are focussed to enhance
character building and leadership skills for young people.
He stressed the need for society to re-evaluate their values and to
fascinate the adult society to re-discover their true potential and
values which would in turn make them more purpose and value oriented to
society.
He said that with the open economy and the vast strides in science it
is more tempting for the youth today to seek the path of least
resistance and to seek the abundantly available pleasures in liquor,
drugs, night life and gambling which pushes the individual towards a
decadent society where the human values face gradual degradation.
"It is of primary importance that responsible members of civil
society assess the gradual degradation of values and cultural heritage
and rejuvenate - for our future generation." Welikala said. |
