Export market for Nivasa clay tiles
 

The Nivasa clay tiles launched by Samson Rajarata Tiles with a Rs 500 million investment in late 2003 is now geared to step into the international market for the first time. Europe, Sharjah, Dubai and Maldives will be the main buyers of this product.

Nivasa is the fastest moving tile in Sri Lanka at present and within a short period of time the product and won the Award for Excellence at the Architect Exhibition in 2004.

Managing Director Rajarata tiles Dr Bandula Perera said, Nivasa clay tiles are manufactured at its state of art factory situated in Gnanikkulama using the best local raw materials and the most modern Japanese technology with a ten year guarantee. The company produces 300,000 tiles a month for the local market mainly in four colours as steel blue, eco green ,natural brown, and chocolate brown.

Technical collaboration with Takasago Industry Ltd in Japan has produced quality to achieve Japanese industry standards.

Perera said that there are many advantages to the consumers as there is no health hazard at all, no need to spend on insulation and it gives a cool interior, perfect interlocking system and the tile is impermeable to water. It is also monkey proof as tiles can be nailed on to the wooden, steel structures.
