Second win for Nepal's Three Star Club

KATHMANDU, Friday - Nepal's Three Star Club managed to win their second match in Group A when they defeated Bhutan's Transport United by two goals to nil yesterday at the Dasarath Stadium.

All scoring was in the first session of play. Nepal got off to a flying start netting their first goal in the 8th minute of play through Vishad Gouchan.

The Bhutanese attack was much better after that and they handled the ball well, but the soggy ground conditions after heavy rains and did not help the strikers at all. However Bhutanese found the equaliser in the 35th minute when Perma Chopel slammed in a beauty.

Nepalese got ahead once again to lead 2-1 with Pradeep Marharjan scoring for hosts.

There was no scoring in the second session which was hotly contested. The victory kept Nepal's hopes alive to reach the semi-finals.

In another game of the same group, Tajikistan defeated Chinese Taipei three goals to nil at Halchowk stadium. This victory assured Tajikistan its place in the semi-final.

Chatura out

Doctors have advised Sri Lanka's mid-fielder Chathura Maduranga to rest for two days. This will keep him out of today's game against Kyrgyztan which is scheduled to kick-off at 4 p.m. at Dasarath Stadium.
