SLCBCC concludes successful business delegation to China
The Sri Lanka China Business Corporation Council (SLCBCC) affiliated
to the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) concluded a
successful 47 member business delegation to China.
The President of the SLCBCC Nihal Mallikarachchi who is also a
council member of the NCCSL led the delegation. The delegation was in
China at the 97th Canton Fair in Guanzhou from April 16 to 20. They had
meetings with officials of the Chinese Export Commodities Fair, China
Foreign Trade Centre and other Chinese government and business
representatives.
The Vice President of China Chamber of Commerce for Export and Import
of Machinery and Electronic Products Zhang Jiannah also joined the
meeting. Several matters pertaining to two way trade were discussed.
Some of the matters discussed were the problems faced by Sri Lankan
importers dealing with Chinese counter parts, and they required remedies
for such problems and investment opportunities available for Sri Lankans
in China, and for Chinese in Sri Lanka.
They also met the President of Guanzhou Sub Council of China Council
for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Ye Yao, where the CCPIT
has indicated that it would hold a single country exhibition in Sri
Lanka in association with the SLCBCC in 2006.
They have also agreed that they would provide training facilities for
Sri Lankan technicians in the manufacture of herbal teas in Guanzhou,
transfer post harvest technology from China to Sri Lanka, exchange
resource personnel and transfer of technologies. |
