Duminda Silva indicted in sexual abuse case

Wesern Provincial Councillor Duminda Silva was indicted yesterday before the Colombo High Court for the alleged abduction of an under aged girl and sexually abusing her. A. L. R. Duminda Silva, M. N. Hanzil Ishak and D. K. Malan Fransis Kuruppu were indicted on four counts.

Duminda Silva was indicted for the abduction of a girl under 16 years, on July 18, 2003 and sexually abusing her on the same day. The latter two were indicted for aiding and abetting Duminda Silva to abduct the underage girl.

The Judicial Medical Officer's report, a few letters, some photographs and a birthday greeting card were among the productions. Twenty three witnesses will give evidence.
