A demonstration was held at the Food Festival held at the Vihara Maha
Devi Park recently. Director CDA, H.D. Jayasinghe said that this was
launched following a research which showed that the public do not know
the health benefits of using coconut oil for their daily food and the
value of it.
He said, that good coconut oil heats very quickly, it does not
generate bubbles when frying and give the real taste and a good smell
when frying food. The CDA officials demonstrated the difference between
the food fried with palm oil diluted coconut oil and real coconut oil at
this festival. Around 5,000 visited the three-day program.
The CDA has planned to carry out this educational program throughout
the island. Arrangements have also been made to produce coconut oil in
bulk form under CDA supervision and to issue a quality certificate to
every coconut oil manufacturer. |
