Silk Avenue to show case latest trends
 

Over 150 European enterprises will have the opportunity to establish new projects and give rise to co-operation with 100 enterprises operating in the Audio Visual (AV) sector at the "Silk Avenue Matchmaking Event" which will be held on October 13 and 14, 2005 in Rome."

Asia Invest Program of the European Union initiative has organised this event for the first time to bring together European and South East Asian Small and medium sized enterprises operating in the audiovisual sector by the European Commission.

General Manager European Chamber of Commerce, Sujeevan Perera said that this event would provide an opportunity for participating enterprises to improve techniques mainly form joint ventures and share knowledge from other participating companies at this event.

They would also get the opportunity to meet other AV companies through specific pre arranged appointments to have a better understanding in the audio visual markets in Europe and South East Asia.

The participants would also have the opportunity to be included in the Silk Avenue catalogue with other selected AV companies.

A total of 2000 one-to-one meetings would be organised for each participating company. There will be five Asian Partners from India, China, Thailand Malaysia, Philippines and Sri Lanka while European partners will be from Italy, Spain, Germany and Czech Republic.

The two day program covers a plenary session, bilateral meetings, networking, visits to AV companies, and workshops on digital rights management, digital restoration, animation, and paperless etc, he said.

Project Manager Niranjala De Mel said that the focus of the 2005 event will be on the revolution of the AV sector caused by the impact of the digital technologies and as the event is concerned the Audio Visual sector is understood to include the film broadcasting, video and multimedia markets. Particular attention will be given to film production and distribution.

Director and systems engineer of a software development company and a registered participant Haneef Mohamed said that their objective in participating at this event is to get the modern technology as they have planned a major expansion drive in the multi media market. Meeting potential clients is also vital, he said.
