SLC spells out 3-year plan for domestic cricket
The tournament committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) spelt out a
three-year plan to upgrade domestic cricket at a meeting of clubs held
at its headquarters on Saturday.
Tournament committee chairman Roshan Abeysinghe said that SLC had
identified the inter-provincial, the Premier league, the Sara trophy and
the Under 23 as the four major tournaments they will be concentrating
their energies on for the development and improvement of Sri Lanka
cricket.
Abeysinghe said that the inter-provincial has been identified as 'a
tournament of excellence' with top class facilities being given to it.
He said the Premier league would be made a highly competitive and well
organised tournament, the Sara trophy for emerging clubs and the under
23 for the emerging player who wants to continue a career in cricket
after he leaves school.
Abeysinghe said the clubs were given every opportunity to express and
put forward their views and the more than 80 percent turn out expressed
the confidence the clubs had in SLC. Sixteen clubs take part in the
Premier trophy and 24 in the Sara trophy. |
