CR and FC have the edge over Navy

THE star studded CR and FC will confront the Sri Lanka Navy in the curtain raiser of the Caltex 'A' Division League Rugby Tournament match at Welisara today.

The Red Shirts trounced the sailors by 36-7 in the under 24 final a fortnight ago but today playing on their home grounds the sailors should give the visitors a tough time.

Led by burly prop forward Menaka Suranga the forte of the sailors are their power-packed forwards who should give the CR 'eight' a torrid time in the loose, Skipper Suranga, Kaluarachchi, Kumara, Ravi Jayasuriya, Sumedha Malewana and A. S. D. Fernando should give of their best today to match up to CR's Shamil Mohamed, Walpola, Boteju, Roshan Perera, Nawaz and skipper Pavithra Fernando.

However the Red Shirts possess a superior back division. In Zulki Hamid and Charith Kodagoda they have a fine halves combination while Rajith Jayasundera, Abeygunawardena, Mohamed Rinaz and Asanga Rodrigo are hard runners who are capable of piercing Navy's defence.
